How to Send Your First Email in 5 Minutes

Essential guide to configuring a script, template, scenario, and campaign in doMail UI to successfully send your first email.

1. Script Creation

Create a script and enable email communication processing.

In the menu, navigate to Configuration → Scripts and click Add Script.
Fill in the Script Name (e.g., invoice_notification_script).
Enable the Send Email toggle (enabled by default).
Click the green Save button.

After saving, default execution logic is generated automatically. No immediate changes are required, but you can add custom plugins later (e.g., trackLink(), bcc(), etc.).

2. Template Preparation

Import data from a CSV file, map email parameters, and upload an HTML template.

In the menu, navigate to Configuration → Templates → Add Template.
Enter the Name (e.g., invoice_notification_template) and click Save.
In the template details, switch to the Template Data tab:
- Main source type: Select CSV and upload the template_data.csv file.
- Enable the File with headers toggle.
- Under Separator, select Comma.
- Review column mapping in the table, customize attribute names if needed, and click Accept.
- In the Email params section, map values from the CSV:
  • Send To: ${recipient_email}
  • Subject: Invoice: ${invoice_number}
  • Address name: ${recipient_name}
Switch to the Design tab:
Click the HTML button (Upload Template in HTML) and upload the template.html file.
At the bottom, click the Save All button.

3. Scenario Configuration

Connect the script to the template and make sure to enable the scenario.

In the menu, select Configuration → Scenarios → Add Scenario.
Enter the Scenario name (e.g., invoice_notification_scenario).
Type: Select SOAP/REST with template.
From the dropdown menus, select your created script (invoice_notification_script) and template (invoice_notification_template).
Click Save All.

Key Step: Scenario Activation

After saving for the first time, a warning will appear: "Scenario will not be used yet because it is not active!". Activate the scenario by switching on the Enabled toggle. Click Save All again.
