User management in domail

User management in domail

In today's article, we will show you how to manage users in domail. We will demonstrate how to create a new user, how to assign various roles and permissions to them. Additionally, we will show you how to reset a user's password and how to create a new role and a shared role that encompasses other roles.

First, log into domail. Go to the Administration menu, where you will find the Users screen. For setup, we have one user, which is the admin with administrative permissions of type admin.

Creating a New User

To create a new user, click on the "Add User" button. Fill out the form:

  • Username: The name the user will log in with.
  • Full Name: The user's full name, which will be displayed.
  • Email: The user's email address.
  • User Type: Admin has administrative rights and access to everything. User has limited rights, which can be configured with roles.

Select the type "User". Now, you can assign some roles to the user.

Assigning Roles

To allow the user to log into the domail, they must have at least the Read role, which permits them to view communications. If you want the user to see the Administration menu, give them the Administration role for the Configuration screen. The Execute role allows performing actions on communications, such as Reprocess or Resend.

You can also assign special access rights related to Read permissions. Each special access right is defined by a scenario, group, and category. These three parameters determine whether the user can see specific communications. Finally, there is the Enabled parameter, which allows the user to log in with the given account. Click "Save" and the user is created.

Testing the New User

You can easily test the new user by logging out and logging back in with the new user's credentials. Each newly created user has a preset password, which can be seen in Settings. If you need to reset a user's password, go to the Users screen, click on the user in the table, and click the "Reset Password" button. This will change the user's password to the preset value in Settings. The user can then change their password to something else through the "Change Password" option in the top right menu, where the Logout option is also located.

Creating Roles

Another topic regarding user management in domail is creating roles. This is done in the Roles screen in the Administration menu. You can create a new role, set its name and description, and assign it some existing roles and permissions, such as Administration or Configuration. You can also set special access rights, as previously mentioned. This role can then be assigned to users or included in another role that will encompass this newly created role.
